The City launched its first public Electric Vehicle (EV) fast charging station at 3805 S. Soto on July 11th! There are a total of 18 fast chargers at the site, available 24/7 for EV drivers to use. The charging station is conveniently located adjacent to one of Vernon's most popular restaurants, Z's Place, and will soon be adjacent to the City's new Starbucks (currently under construction and anticipated to open in late summer).

These fast chargers will support 95% of the various electric cars on the market and will efficiently charge up to 80% of a vehicle’s battery in 15-20 minutes. This pilot project is the result of a partnership between Vernon Public Utilities and Tesla to bolster EV driver consumer confidence - drivers want to be assured that adequate electric charging infrastructure is in place to extend their electric range and meet their commuting needs. This valuable infrastructure now exists in Vernon.

We invite all EV drivers to check out the charging station on Soto! The City is thrilled to serve the vast number of EVs in the Southeast Los Angeles region. We will continue to pursue projects that support convenient services for Vernon residents and workers, and our surrounding communities.
