The City's General Municipal Election was held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, to elect one (1) City Council Member for a full term of five years, and to submit two ballot measures amending the City Charter to the voters.
Resolution No. 2025-011 reciting the facts of the All-Mail Ballot General Municipal Election held on April 8, 2025 was ratified by the City Council at the Regular Meeting held on May 6, 2025.
Ballots cast were canvassed at the Central Counting Place at Vernon City Hall at 4305 S. Santa Fe Avenue on April 8, 2025 beginning at 8:01 p.m.
A second canvass was conducted Wednesday April 16, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. to canvass the remaining election ballots. For more information, contact the City Clerk's Department at 323-583-8811 x 546.
All ballots for the General Municipal Election to be held April 8, 2025 will be counted at a Central Counting Place at Vernon City Hall Council Chamber, 4305 S. Santa Fe Avenue on April 8, 2025 at 8:01 p.m.
The Canvassing Board to process/canvass all Vote-By-Mail Ballots will begin April 8, 2025 promptly at 8:01 p.m. in the Vernon City Council Chamber at 4305 S. Santa Fe Avenue.
The City of Vernon provides the Notice of Nominees for Public Office to inform voters of the candidates nominated for office in the April 8, 2025 General Municipal Election.
Ballots were mailed to registered voters in the City the week of March 10, 2025. If you did not receive your ballot, contact the City Clerk Department at 323-583-8811 x 546.
Impartial Analysis prepared by the City Attorney:
The legislative body authorizes an eligible member to author arguments in support or against a measure within 14 days from calling the election.
A rebuttal argument relating to a city measure shall be filed with the elections official no later than 10 days after the final filing date for primary arguments. No Rebuttal Arguments were filed.
The results of the April 8, 2025 General Municipal Election will be certified at the May 6, 2025 Regular City Council Meeting.
On November 5, 2024, the City Council adopted:
- Resolution No. 2024-023 Calling the Election and Submitting Charter Amendment Measures;
- Resolution No. 2024-24 regulating Candidate Statements; and
- Resolution No. 2024-025 Requesting County Services.
