In response to the ongoing wildfires and Governor Newsom’s issuance of a State of Emergency Proclamation for Los Angeles County on January 7, 2025, Vernon remains alert and ready to assist where needed. Persistent fires and windstorm conditions continue to threaten structures, homes, and critical infrastructure (including power lines and water tanks), causing widespread power outages, and resulting in many displaced families and pets throughout the Los Angeles County area. Please visit the Cal Fire website for detailed information on current emergency incidents.

Our hearts go out to all those impacted by these catastrophic events. Here, we hope to offer important information and resources for those affected and share support and donation opportunities with those looking to help.

Support and Donations

Together, we can make a positive impact in our community by supporting those in need during this critical time.

  • Financial donations are the quickest and most effective way to assist those in need. Please make sure you visit the American Red Cross website at RedCross.org
  • To donate items in bulk, the American Red Cross has an Offers Form which will automatically notify the Red Cross National Offers Team for follow up as needed.
  • For anyone interested in joining the Red Cross as a volunteer, an online application is available at the Red Cross website, or you may email directly at VolunteerServices.LosAngeles.CA@redcross.org.

If you are interested in donating goods, please offer your contributions to the NEAREST SHELTER, rather than delivering items to fire stations.
