The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) and Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) has issued a notice to advise the public of the availability of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement/Supplemental Environmental Impact Report (EIS/SEIR) for the Link Union Station Project (Link US).
The Link US Project is proposed to address existing capacity constraints at Los Angeles Union Station (LAUS). The Project would transform LAUS from a stub-end tracks station into a run-through tracks station by extending 10 platform tracks from their current ends at LAUS over U.S. Highway 101 (US-101) and local streets to connect to mainline tracks along the west bank of the Los Angeles River, and includes the replacement of the existing pedestrian passageway under the platforms and tracks with a new expanded passageway, and off-site railroad changes to the BNSF Railway Malabar Yard in the City of Vernon.
The proposed modifications in Vernon raise concerns, as it is anticipated that the Malabar Yard use will negatively impact Public Safety response times, air quality, and
traffic. Metro provided a presentation on the Link US project to the City's Business and Industry Commission (BIC) on May 9, 2024 and heard from community stakeholders. Video from the May 9th BIC meeting is available for viewing.
Metro invites you to attend the Open House and Public Hearing to obtain more information about the Project and Draft EIS/SEIR. The Open House will provide an opportunity to ask questions about the environmental process and the Project and talk one-on-one with the Link US team. After the Open House, a Public Hearing will be held where formal comments on the Draft EIS/SEIR can be provided orally or in writing. Details on the meeting are as follows:
Tuesday, July 9, 2024
6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Metro Headquarters
One Gateway Plaza, Board Room, 3rd Floor

An Open House and Public Hearing Zoom (Webinar) will also be open to the public.
All Metro meetings are held in ADA accessible facilities. Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese translation will be provided. Other ADA accommodations and translations are available by calling 213-922-2524 at least 72 hours in advance.
