The Vernon Public Utilities (VPU) Gas Division recently received a 2025 Safety Award from the American Public Gas Association (APGA) – its fifth consecutive award! As an award recipient from calendar years 2020-2025, VPU has repeatedly demonstrated its commitment to safety, reflecting the diligence of Gas Division staff in setting and maintaining the highest performance standards within the natural gas industry. VPU joins four other public natural gas agencies from around the country that have been recognized by APGA for meeting the criteria to win the safety contest five years in a row. 

Formed in 1961, APGA is a trade association that provides access to the latest industry trends on safety standards, regulations and other important issues for over 700 public natural gas system members across 38 states. The annual Safety Contest Award is given to public natural gas system organizations to acknowledge their dedication to keeping employees safe every day on every job. The award recognizes public gas utilities that have the lowest overall injury incidence rate for a calendar year.
