Council Member Rivera was elected to the Vernon City Council in April 2023 to serve a full five-year term.  Council Member Rivera is committed to serving the community and advocating for a better quality of life for the people that make up the City - its families, children and workers.  He takes pride in calling Vernon home, a great City where he is raising his family, and looks forward to taking part in shaping Vernon’s future.

Council Member Rivera believes in supporting the unique relationship between the City, local businesses, and residents and is proud of the progress the City has made in recent years. Coming from a working-class background, Council Member Rivera values the many job opportunities present throughout the City and the economic impact that Vernon represents for the region. He is excited about the City’s current focus on innovation and sustainability, and supports efforts to ensure that businesses in the City retain a competitive advantage.

As a sitting member of the Vernon City Council, Council Member Rivera represents the City on various external boards and organizations including the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County and the Southern California Association of Governments. 

Council Member Rivera is committed to advocating for the well-being of all of Vernon’s residents and community, upholding good governance practices, and looking out for the success of the City and its business community. He is honored to be a part of Vernon’s evolution to become an innovative, thriving, and inclusive close-knit community.  His term on the City Council expires in April 2028.
